Next project: I’m making running/athletic visors with bottle cap openers on them.
In honor of Go Texan day, March 3rd, I’m putting my TexSox on sale, buy 1-get 1 free. Sale will run 7 days. Perfect for running around trails, wearing with boots, or just sitting around eating amazing BBQ. How I miss good Texas BBQ.
Ahhh, the joys of working with factories in China. I had a client ask for me to make some shorts in a more “American” sizes. So I talk to my factory rep, and use the waist sizes that I had talked to my client about.
Things seem to be fine. I order 100 pairs of shorts, and after the usual 15-20 days for production, I get the shorts to my place. They look great!
– but….. they are HUGE!! As a man that wears an XL usually, I find it odd that I fit into a Medium pretty easily.
What happened? I remember my factory rep giving me a size chart for the skirts that I ordered. It had the waist labeled as “half-waist”…
– my factory rep took the full waist size and took it that I meant that for a half-waist measurement. WTF?!?!?!!?
Well, looks like I have some shorts that will definitely fit the larger american market…
As requested, I’ve begun working on getting running “kilts” made. I use quotations cause these are clearly not real/traditional kilts. These are light weight fabric, NOT wool, and the pleating is not fancy or deep.
Hope to start production in December.
I am so excited that over 80 running skirts (or as some like to call them, skorts) have been pre-ordered! I have already been in touch with getting the order started, and am happy to say that I will not only have the pink camo available as well as the solid red that the pre-orders have been made for,
– but I will also be able to offer a brand new rainbow style running skirt!
There have been a number of men ordering the running skirt, and I can’t wait to see what it looks like for them! Here is a pic of me, but the skirt isn’t actually worn, just tucked into my shorts…. Fun night in Hong Kong that was!
Also, in case anyone is wondering, I am also working on getting some custom running kilts made. When that is finished, maybe I will have a new product available.
I got a chance to join Guangzhou hash for their 1400th run* the other week. Was fun! Shekou H3 also joined in for the festivities.
I traveled to GZ a day ahead to go to a sportswear mall with some of the haberdashers.
Saturday afternoon, we met at the hash bar: the Mango Bar in the middle of town. Once there, everyone donned their fabulous clothing, and a few people even bought some sexy socks from me. There were enough people that we needed 2 buses. The 2nd bus ran a bit late, and we felt a bit funny standing around in dresses, and had to grab a cab anyway.
It was a run through the mountains, which was all the more fun in a cheap red thing I had bought from the states. a dress is fine, but the material was clearly not meant for running in. Although it would have been fun to stay in my red for the circle after, I felt way too gross, and uncomfortable.
I always love to see folk wear socks i helped get made, even when if it is better for them to cut out the feet…
Because I have been asked by my home kennel in Houston, I have looked into doing happi coats, and so it looks like the factory I know here in Shenzhen can do some for me for a solid price.
SO not only can I offer custom socks, custom shorts & shirts, but now happi coats as well.
as these are big things with a lot of fabric, they are a bit more expensive to mail. I had to wait a few days over the most recent Mid-Autumn festival to get a quote from the boss that knows the shipping costs.
This will be the first time the factory makes and ships the coats, so the current estimate is 25 coats at $35 per coat. I hope it all goes smoothly, and that I can continue to offer the coats at this price. Something goes wrong, and the price could jump.
– not sure what the price of doing smaller number will be. Might find out soon if the comments on my facebook post is anything to go by…
